Questions to ask an agency before you sign.
Before you sign with a management agency, get clear written answers on the split, the contract term, the exit terms, who controls your accounts, and who you can call as a reference. If an agency dodges any of these or rushes you, treat it as your answer and walk.
Ask these, in writing
A good agency answers all of these without flinching. Get the answers in writing and make sure the contract matches what you were told.
- 1What is the split, and is it on gross or net? Confirm the percentage and whether it applies before or after the platform cut.
- 2Exactly what do you do for that split? Marketing, messaging, scheduling, strategy? Get the scope listed, not implied.
- 3How long is the term, and is it exclusive? Watch for long lock ins and auto renewals you cannot easily exit.
- 4How do I leave, and what happens after? Notice period, any fees, and whether they keep taking a cut after you go.
- 5Who controls my accounts and payouts? Money should land in your account, and access should stay revocable by you.
- 6Who runs my messaging, and under what rules? If chatters reply as you, ask about training, tone, and consent boundaries.
- 7Can I speak to two creators you manage now? Real references you can reach are the strongest signal there is.
- 8How and when do I get paid and reported to? Payout schedule, deduction order, and a statement you can audit.
What the answers should sound like
As a reference point, full management commonly runs 30 to 50 percent of net after the platform cut, and chat only arrangements usually take a smaller share. The platform takes its cut first, so on OnlyFans 20 percent of gross is gone before any split. A demand of 60 percent or more, an upfront fee to be signed, or pressure to decide today are all reasons to slow down. Frequently asked questions
What is the single most important question?
How do I leave, and what happens to my income after. A clean, written exit protects you if the relationship does not work. If the exit is vague, expensive, or has the agency taking a cut long after you go, that is a reason to walk before you sign.
Should I ask for references?
Yes. Ask to speak with two creators they manage now, and actually call them. A reputable agency will arrange it. If they cannot or will not, that absence is information. Real references you can reach are the strongest signal you have.
Is it normal to pay an upfront fee?
A management agency that earns a split should not charge you to be signed. Upfront fees to join, or pay to be considered offers, are a common warning sign. Fees for a specific defined service can be legitimate, but an entry fee to representation is a reason to be cautious.
What if they pressure me to sign quickly?
Slow down. Urgency is a sales tactic, not a deadline you owe anyone. A good agency wants you to read the contract and feel sure. If you are being rushed, take that as your answer and step back. There will be other options.
